The Challenge
The client, a company in the iGaming industry, was running Redis in a standalone, single-machine configuration.
While this setup provided the caching and session functionality required by the environment, relying on a single Redis machine created a single point of failure. If the machine became unavailable, the caching and session layers could be affected, potentially impacting the stability and availability of services that depended on Redis.
As the client’s infrastructure requirements evolved, there was a need for a more resilient Redis architecture that could provide redundancy and reduce the risks associated with relying on a single machine.
The objective was to improve Redis availability while introducing a mechanism for handling failures automatically.

The Solution
ITGix migrated the existing standalone Redis setup to a Redis + Sentinel architecture designed to provide redundancy and automatic failover.
The new setup introduced master and slave nodes, allowing Redis data to be replicated across multiple nodes rather than relying on a single machine.
Redis Sentinel was implemented to support the high-availability architecture and enable automatic failover when the master node becomes unavailable.
This changed the Redis environment from a single-machine setup to a more resilient architecture with redundancy built into the deployment.
The new configuration provided the client with a more reliable foundation for its caching and session layers while reducing its dependency on any single Redis node.
The Results
The migration significantly improved the resilience and availability of the Redis environment.
Key benefits included:
- Eliminated single point of failure within the Redis setup
- Increased availability through a redundant architecture
- Automatic failover supported by Redis Sentinel
- Improved resilience of the caching layer
- Improved resilience of the session layer
- Reduced dependency on a single Redis machine
- More reliable infrastructure foundation for the client’s applications
By introducing master and slave nodes with Redis Sentinel, the client gained greater protection against the failure of an individual Redis node.
The architecture also provided a more robust foundation for the caching and session layers, helping ensure that these components could remain available even when an individual node experienced an issue.
Conclusion
By migrating from a standalone Redis deployment to a Redis + Sentinel architecture, ITGix helped the iGaming company remove a critical single point of failure and establish a more resilient caching and session infrastructure.
The introduction of master and slave nodes, combined with automatic failover through Redis Sentinel, increased availability and provided greater redundancy across the Redis environment.
The result is a more reliable and resilient Redis architecture that better supports the client’s ongoing infrastructure and application requirements.
