Introduction
In regulated industries like online gaming, infrastructure must go beyond performance – it must ensure security, scalability, and full compliance. One Canadian gaming company, operating under strict legal and operational standards, approached ITGix with a critical challenge: to modernize and restructure their cloud environment ahead of a high-traffic, mission-critical event – the Super Bowl.
Without proper environment segregation, alerting, or cost visibility, their existing AWS-based setup was falling short of industry expectations. What they needed was a cloud foundation that would scale on demand, remain resilient under pressure, and pass rigorous compliance audits.
The Challenge
The gaming company’s cloud infrastructure lacked the key features required for secure and efficient operations:
- No environment separation, which hindered access control and lifecycle management
- Limited monitoring and alerting, increasing the risk of downtime during critical events
- Inadequate cost management, with no visibility into environment-specific spend
- Non-compliance risks, due to missing controls for fraud prevention and data protection
- Scalability concerns, especially with major events like the Super Bowl looming
With their platform hosting thousands of users during sporting events, the business couldn’t afford any missteps. The solution had to be fast, reliable, secure, and above all, compliant.
Cloud Infrastructure That Delivers: How ITGix Future-Proofed a Gaming Platform for Super Bowl-Scale Events
Environment Segregation
ITGix re-architected the cloud infrastructure using Pulumi, an Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tool, to support clear separation between Admin, Production, Staging, UAT, and Development environments. This segregation enabled role-based access, stronger security boundaries, and improved deployment workflows.
Pulumi Pipelines for Deployment
We implemented custom Pulumi pipelines for streamlined provisioning and updates, including a dedicated pipeline for the Production environment to ensure safe, auditable releases.

Monitoring & Alerting Integration
To improve visibility, Amazon CloudWatch was integrated with PagerDuty, enabling proactive monitoring and automated incident response. Teams could now react faster to anomalies, minimizing downtime during peak usage.
Compliance & Security
Security controls were strengthened through IAM policies, data encryption, and frameworks tailored to Canadian gaming regulations. Anti-fraud and AML (Anti-Money Laundering) mechanisms were embedded directly into the infrastructure design.
Centralized Data & BI Integration
A new data warehouse was introduced to centralize reporting across all environments. Combined with Tableau, the company gained real-time business intelligence with dynamic dashboards that informed operational decisions.
Autoscaling & Availability
The infrastructure was optimized for autoscaling, ensuring that the system could handle Super Bowl-sized traffic surges without performance dips. High availability architecture supported fault tolerance and resilience.
Cost Optimization via FinOps
Post-migration, ITGix applied FinOps best practices using tools like AWS Cost Explorer and strategic resource tagging. This gave the client full visibility into spend across environments and helped drive down cloud costs.

The Results
✅ Full compliance with Canadian gaming industry regulations
✅ Zero downtime during Super Bowl peak traffic
✅ Centralized data access and real-time insights via Tableau dashboards
✅ Automated, integrated alerting and monitoring for faster incident response
✅ Cost transparency and control across all environments
✅ Scalable, secure foundation for future cloud-native growth
Conclusion
This project showcases how cloud infrastructure modernization, done right, can transform operations in even the most heavily regulated industries. By leveraging Pulumi, AWS, and FinOps practices, ITGix helped this gaming provider build a secure, scalable, and cost-effective cloud environment ready for mission-critical performance.
